I strive to treat others with respect and acknowledge the positive outcome when I do. I feel at peace when others avoid defining me by my situation, and I use that feeling to dictate my treatment of others.
I believe that I am made equal to every other human being, despite my background, achievements and status in life. The differences I may be inclined to see are only superficial because equality comes from deep within.
I recognize that we all carry biases and I strive to identify and rectify those biases within me.
I make it a point to let others feel as I would want to feel. I treat others as I would want to be treated.
In my interactions with family, friends and strangers, I strive to plant the seed of equality. I welcome the opinion of others and treat their point of view with respect. I realize that my relationships are stronger when I treat everyone with respect.
When I acknowledge the input and contribution of others, they feel recognized, included and important. Those feelings create peace and happiness, which ultimately bring harmony.
Today, I continue to plant the seed of equality. I realize that it is the only way to achieve true harmony in the world. I challenge myself and others to uncover biases that we may not even recognize.
Self-Reflection Questions:
- How do I let someone know their contribution is not acceptable without letting them feel unequal?
- How do I react to others who promote inequality?
- What can I do to promote equality?
